Kazanlak is a successor of the ancient Thracian capital Seuthopolis, built by the Thracian King Seuthes III in 6th - 5th centuris BC. Rich Thracian civilization was founded in the valley around the river Tonzos (today Toundja). It was economically connected with Hellas.
