Chimimport '07 consolidated income top 2 bln levs

Chimimport, Bulgaria's biggest conglomerate, saw a 44.9% year-on-year pop in consolidated income to 3.347 bln levs in 2007, shows the financial report of the company filed with the Sofia stock exchange.

The profit margin improved to 5.11% last year versus 3.97% a year earlier. Net profit is up 86% to 120 mln levs.

The combined assets of the 40 or so Chimimport businesses rose 68% year-on-year to 2.749 bln levs.

The reported numbers make Chimimport the nation's biggest public corporation in terms of revenues, net profit and assets, dislodging telco BTC which reported 2007 consolidated income of just over 1 bln levs, net profit of 116 mln levs and assets of 2.03 bln levs.

Financial gains accounted for 58% of Chimimport's revenues last year.

Sales, mainly driven by the transportation and manufacturing divisions of the holding, rose more than twice to 521.8 mln levs
