Eurostat: Bulgaria Had Largest Share of Population without Adequate Heating in 2018

January 6 (BTA) - In 2018, seven per cent of the population of the European Union said that they could not afford to heat their home sufficiently, Eurostat reported on Monday. This share peaked in 2012 (11 per cent), and has fallen continuously in subsequent years. At 34 per cent, Bulgaria recorded the largest share of the population who could not heat their homes adequately, followed by Lithuania (28 per cent). Greece (23 per cent), Cyprus (22 per cent), Portugal (19 per cent) and Italy (14 per cent). In Austria, Finland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Estonia and Sweden around 2 per cent of the population could not afford sufficient heating.
