GDP Up By 3.3% in Second Quarter of 2019 Y/Y

August 14 (BTA) - In the second quarter of 2019, Bulgaria's gross domestic product (GDP) went up by 3.3 per cent compared to the same period of 2018, and by 0.6 per cent compared to the first quarter of 2019, according to seasonally adjusted data. This is shown by flash estimates of the National Statistical Institute, published on Wednesday. According to the flash GDP estimates for the second quarter of 2019, GDP at current prices amounted to 28.099,000 leva for the given period. Gross value added amounted to 24,241,000 leva in the second quarter of 2019. According to the flash estimates by expenditure, the largest share of GDP went to final consumption (76.3 per cent), adding up to 21,445,000 leva. In the second quarter of 2019, gross capital formation totalled 5,683,000 leva, with a share of 20.2 per cent of GDP. The external balance (exports minus imports) was positive. In the second quarter of 2019 compared to the first quarter, gross value added went up by 0.8 per cent according to seasonally adjusted data. According to the flash estimates by final expenditure, the seasonally adjusted GDP growth was determined by the gross fixed capital formation increase of 0.8 per cent and the final consumption increase of 0.1 per cent in the second quarter of 2019 compared to the first quarter of the year. Year-on-year, the seasonally adjusted gross value added went up by 3.1 per cent in the second quarter of 2019. Final consumption registered a growth of 2.7 per cent. The seasonally adjusted gross fixed capital formation went up by 2.2 per cent in the second quarter of 2019 year-on-year.
