Heightened avalanche threat on mountains: rescue service
01.3.2010The avalanche threat on mountains in Bulgaria is very high, the Mountain Rescue Service at the Bulgarian Red Cross told FOCUS News Agency.
The weather conditions are favorable for tourism. No incidents involving tourists have been reported. It is foggy and windy at the peak of Cherni Vrah in the Vitosha mountain range. The temperature is 8°C below zero. There is a heightened avalanche and frostbite threat.
The temperature at the peak of Musala in the Rila mountain range is minus 11°C. Moderate wind is blowing.
There is a high threat of avalanches in the areas that are off-limits in Bansko resort.
The temperature at the peaks of Rozhen and Snezhanka in the Rhodope mountain range is minus 5°C and plus 1°C respectively.
