I expect difficult winter tourist season: deputy minister
30.11.2009Veliko Tarnovo. I expect a difficult winter tourist season, deputy Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism Ivo Marinov said in the northern city of Veliko Tranovo, cited by FOCUS – Veliko Tarnovo Radio.
The number of British tourists is expected to drop, because in a time of financial and economic crises and as a result of the British pound devaluation, the British citizens focus on their summer holiday, he added.
Ivo Marinov says that this year the big resorts in Bulgaria will not officially open their winter season on one and the same date.
The season in Chepelare will be opened on December 4, in Pamporovo – on December 5 and in Bansko – on December 12.
The deputy minister said the decrease in the number of tourists was 0.4% since the beginning of the year in comparison with the same period last year.
As to the incomes, the drop is 0.2%, which, I think, is good against the global decline of 7%, Ivo Marinov commented on the summer tourist season.
