Incomes from winter tourism will not be more than EUR 150-160 million: BTC Chairman
25.1.2010We expected incomes of some EUR 200-250 million from the winter tourism, but now they will not be more than EUR 150-160 million, Bulgarian Tourist Chamber (BTC) Chairman Tsvetan Tonchev told FOCUS News Agency.
He says that after the tourists who spend the holiday season in Bulgarian winter resorts, there was a period of low number of tourists because of the lack of snow.
The situation has just cheered up as the tourists started going to Bansko, Razlog, Dobrinishte, Pamporovo and the border blockade started. The occupancy is some 60% and at the beginning it was 40-50%. We reiterate that there should be bilateral, trilateral route programs for tourists from remote countries. If a Japanese or Chinese group comes now and wants to tour the Balkan countries, they cannot visit Greece. There are Romanian tourists in the Bulgarian resorts, who want to go to on a shopping trip to Thessaloniki for a day or two, and now they cannot, said Tonchev.
