New ski season in Bansko to be officially opened on Saturday
14.12.2009Bansko. The new ski season in the winter resort Bansko will be officially opened on Saturday, said mayor of the town Alexander Kravarov for FOCUS Pirin Radio. The opening will be followed by parallel slalom, with the participation of 8 Olympic champions. Up to now the equipment for snow are not working all the time because temperatures are high. According to the prognosis of the mayor there will be no drastic decrease in tourists’ flow in the coming winter season.
“We expect decrease in number of English tourists, but more Bulgarians, pressed by the crisis, will stay in Bulgaria. Moreover, more Russian tourists are expected,” the mayor said.
Asked how hotel keepers overcome crisis after a year in the situation of economic crisis Kravarov said:
“They are trying to survive, there are all kinds on problems, new services are provided and prices are decreased. No new hotels have been opened. There were several hotels closed in the summer but they are opened again.”
