Number of Companies Declaring Bankruptcy Up 26.8% in EU, Down 2.1% in Q4 of 2022, Q/Q
18.2.2023LUXEMBOURG, 17.02.2023 15:49 (BTA) The number of declarations of bankruptcies submitted by companies in the EU grew by 26.8% in the last quarter of 2022 compared to the previous quarter, reaching its highest level since 2015, show Eurostat data published on Friday. In Bulgaria, the number of declarations of bankruptcies decreased by 2.1% during the period under review. In the third quarter of 2022, bankruptcies in Bulgaria went down by 10.9% quarter on quarter. In the first and second quarters of the year, their number decreased by 12.4% and 4.3%, respectively. When it comes to registrations of new businesses, in the last quarter of 2022 they dropped by 0.2% in the EU and increased by 0.9% in Bulgaria quarter on quarter. In the first and second quarters of 2022, newly registered companies in Bulgaria grew in number by 3.1% and 3.8%, respectively.
