Parliament Chair Karayancheva Confers with Romania, Turkey Delegations

28.11.2019
Sofia, November 28 (BTA) - National Assembly Chair Tsveta Karayancheva Thursday met with delegations of the Romanian Senate and Chamber of Deputy foreign policy committees, as well as the one of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Parliament said. Karayancheva noted that the National Assembly is hosting the first ever plenary trilateral meeting of the foreign policy committees and said she hoped this initiative will lay the foundations for more meetings of this kind to discuss important matters of mutual interest. Karayancheva acquainted the guests with the recently held successful Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation. The sides discussed the expansion of the European Union in the Western Balkans and she declared the subject was a priority during Bulgaria's Presidency of the Council of the European Union, underscoring that stability and peace in the region are very important to Bulgaria. The issues discussed also included migration and cooperation in resolving this problem, as well as how such issues uniting the parties should be united and how solutions must be found within such formats. The Chairman of the Romanian Senate's Foreign Policy Committee, Cristian-Sorin Dumitrescu, expressed gratitude for the present initiative, adding that it is part of the excellent partnership between the countries. He also said that Romania supported economic cooperation in the Black Sea region and that is why such subjects should be discussed between the parliamentary committees. In turn, the Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee, Bolkan Bozkur, said his country values the friendly relations between the neighbouring countries in the region. Turkey considers such contacts a guarantee of stability, an element of security and trust, he added, to which the parliaments of these countries contribute./NV/BR/ Source: Sofia, http://www.bta.bg/en/c/DF/id/2113692
