January 8 (BTA special correspondent Antoan Nikolov) - Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on Wednesday attended the launch of the TurkStream pipeline in Istanbul at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Erdogan. The pipeline, which links Russia and Turkey via the Black Sea, was inaugurated by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Erdogan in the presence of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Bulgarian Prime Minister Borissov. TurkStream will supply natural gas to 53 million users in Turkey and Europe. Ahead of the ceremony Borissov had a meeting with the three leaders. He briefed Russian President Putin on the progress made in connection with the implementation of Balkan Stream, the 474-km Bulgarian section of TurkStream. Also he thanked President Erdogan for the invitation. He discussed with the Turkish leader broadening bilateral political and economic cooperation and told him that he appreciates Turkey's role with regard to migration and the enforcement of the the EU-Turkey statement of March 2016, Borissov wrote in a Facebook post. The two leaders also discussed the situation in the Middle East and it was Borissov's position that the problems can be resolved only through dialogue and peace.
