Small hotels most hurt by uncontrolled construction

Russian market less sensitive to overbuilding of mountain resorts

The occupancy rate of a hotel in Bansko has fallen from more than 70% to 30% now, he said. Overall occupancy of small hotels may shrink by half. They cannot offer additional services like spa which big hotels use to attract clients, Popov pointed out.
Bulgaria should focus on the Russian market, which is not so sensitive to the resorts' overconstruction. Russians still look for something new and luxurious, Popov said.
