Sofia Put the Lights Out During the International Earth Hour

31.3.2008
Sofia put its lights out yesterday night in the frames of international initiative ‘Earth Hour'.
The aim of the campaign is to direct public attention towards the waste of electricity and the climate changes' threat.

Sofia turned the lights out between 20:00 and 20:05 as the street lights and part of the art lights on central buildings went out.

Many countries all around the world stopped the public lightening under the sign of the same campaign, but they stood lightless for a whole hour.

According to official data over 30 million people put their lights out last night. More than 380 cities, 3,500 companies in 35 countries had signed for participation.
