"What matters is the fact that the rescue operation on the search for the tourists that got lost in the Pirin Mountain was successful - the people we found are alive and in good condition. The tourists are almost unhurt, in good physical said, conditionally said," Kiril Rusev, director of the Mountain Rescue Service with the Bulgarian Red Cross, told FOCUS News Agency.
The lost tourists were fund at about 1.00 pm on Thursday. They have a tent and two bags.
“The rescue operation started on Wednesday by rescue teams of the Mountain Rescue Services in the towns of Bansko and Razlong consisting of 18 people,” Rusev said.
The rescue operation started at about 10.00 pm on Wednesday and ended up to 4.00 pm on Thursday. The search was suspended for 4 hours during the night over pouring rain in the lower part of the mountain.
“The tourist could not reach the place pointed as the place of the incident - under the Koncheto shelter but in the southern part. It was supposed the people have sheltered in there. We were close to the place when we were informed that the people were found,” Rusev noted.
